The shift towards the green revolution is felt even in the world of interior design as the advanced class of 2011 from Philippine School of Interior Design takes on the challenge of using sustainable materials to create spaces that question our perception of how stones, metals, papers... are supposed to function.
Manila Kid was invited last Thursday to the press preview and we were overwhelmed by the concepts and execution of the designs! We especially liked the theme of the whole exhibit. Aside from the sustainability of primary materials used, the exhibit zooms in on the main reason why we're heading towards the green revolution - for our youth; thus the name "Jak 'En Poy: Bato, Gunting, Papel, Atbp."
There's nothing juvenile with the execution of the designs as strips of metal were bent, mirrors were cut, bamboos sawed and concrete were molded. Students from PSID took more than a month to translate their ideas into real life and you can really see their pride as they tour and explain to guests their inspiration, the story and the sustainability of their design.
Experience the whole exhibit yourself! For the mean time, here are the blueprints from each of the booth:
The whole exhibit will be open to the public from October 1 to 30 at the former Super Savers Club, beside SM North EDSA.
